Annual VGCI
Convention will be held in Elmira/Corning,
Displays: There will be awards for
displays again
this year for Best Single Piece, Best Theme, Most Educational, and Best
Visual. Each category will receive an
award. Please consider setting
up a display.
We have plenty of room and everyone wants to see your favorite
pieces!
Swap & Shop: One of best chances you
will get to
buy or sell glass, Swap & Shop is also a great way to meet fellow
Club members
and perhaps find a piece for your collection that you may not find
anywhere
else. Swap & Shop is conducted from
room to room. Participating rooms may list their room number on the
easel at
the registration desk.
Meals: Four meals are included
in the cost
of your registration fee. The times for
each meal will be printed in your Welcome Packet that you will receive
when you
register upon arrival. There is no
discount on convention fees if you decide not to participate in any or
all of
the meals.
Silent Auction:
Here is an opportunity for members to make tax deductible
donations of glass
for auction to benefit the Club. If you
want to place a piece in the auction but do not wish to donate the
proceeds to
the Club, VGCI will require 20% of the final auction price as a fee. If you are planning to bring silent auction
piece(s) to convention please let us know what you are bringing so we
may
properly record each piece and prepare an auction sheet for it. If you are flying and prefer to ship your
auction (or display) items, please ship to:

The Dirty
Santa Game: The Dirty
Santa Game has become a tradition
at convention. If you would like to
participate, please bring a wrapped gift for exchange.
The gift should be either Vaseline glass or a
bottle of wine with a value around $20. If
you don’t bring a gift, there are always plenty to purchase during Swap
&
Shop. Observers are always welcome too!
Fun!
The
true
measure of success of any convention is how much you enjoyed yourself. YOU
are the key ingredient in making this happen!

Cancellation Policy: In the unfortunate
event that you must cancel, please notify us by
September 10, 2012. Funds will be
returned less a $5 processing fee. Any
cancellations after September 10, 2012, will be forfeited to VGCI as a
tax
deductible contribution.
Transportation: The area is serviced by
the
Elmira/Corning Regional Airport (ELM). The
Holiday Inn runs a shuttle between the airport and the hotel. However, it is not a regularly scheduled run
and you must contact the hotel to arrange for a ride.
You can make arrangements ahead of time or
can use their airport phone upon arrival.
There are also taxi cabs available.
The fare is approximately $20.

Registration fees:
The cost of registration includes four meals, two round-trip
motor coach
rides and two admissions to the Corning Museum of Glass, Thursday
evening Sip
& Dip social, and all other events and speakers.
There is no reduction in the fee if you plan
on attending only part of the convention.
